there’s just something so beautifully sweet about allowing yourself a moment of joy. as you may know, i am a full time caretaker for an elderly family member. there are people who live on the property that… do not treat me with respect or kindness. thus, my living situation is not ideal at times and as a mentally ill individual brings me a great deal of stress. despite it all, however, i persevere. when i was fourteen my favourite bands were One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, i was a young teenage girl fascinated by the bright sounds of intriguing pop and an internet hive mind of hype and appreciation and wonder. recently, i was able to bring myself to listen to One Direction again despite the painful twinge of nostalgia that sometimes arises. that teenage girl, well, she went through a lot of shit. now, she’s me. a trans man, still going through his own brand of shit. i’ve been listening to 5SOS again. i don’t follow them on socials or keep up with them much, but i’ve b...
